The Sacred Ruins

Chapter 237: Derisive Glance

Chu Feng recuperated in peace that night, the flood dragon meat affording him the much-needed boost to healing speed. His whole body was relaxed down to his pores and enshrouded in a white hazy mist as he circulated his breathing technique. His whole body was breathing while his spirit was also pulsating in unison.

At this moment, his physical body and psyche were synchronized in their respiration. Treasured lights were flowing throughout his body like a golden Buddha.

The hole in his chest had long since stabilized and was covered by a layer of newly grown membrane. Frightening changes were taking place therein; the wound began to itch as granulation tissue grew in to fill the bloody excavation.

Additionally, the wounded organs in his body were vibrating with a gentle glow and emanating vigorous life energy. They were gradually healing.

A huge commotion was bound to occur if this scene was leaked to the outside world because although other cultivators could also regrow their organs, the rate was painfully slow.

Chu Feng was now breathing with all his being, in both mind and spirit. The effects were apparent and overwhelming. He could see the puncture wounds on his lungs healing at a gradual rate.

He was quite surprised himself. He had, at first, thought that it would surely leave some form of disability for him even after healing. He wasn’t expecting all his organs to regenerate like so!

Only now did he stop to appreciate how heaven-defying his techniques were. Yellow Ox was right; this was indeed an incredible breathing technique!

Chu Feng recalled how all his minor wounds had healed within a few days without even a scar. This could be considered an indication of its power.

It was clear to him that his wounds wouldn’t give him much trouble as long as he could disperse the dark energy that Hei Teng had left behind.

At this moment, his fractures had reconnected and new bone had begun to form. His regenerative abilities were truly astonishing.

Chu Feng sensed something odd and immediately realized that he was being watched.

Normally, king level perception would conflict with each other but Chu Feng’s senses had truly reached a higher level as his spirit was also breathing in tandem with his body.

He clearly grasped a bird perched on a tree over 2 kilometers out. It had the beak of a hawk and the face of a feline. It was squinting to avoid light from spilling out of its cold and sinister eyes.

This king level owl had been sensed by Chu Feng from over 2.5 kilometers away.

It was obvious that this kind of beast had exceptional night vision and had already noticed Chu Feng.

Chu Feng was astonished that the bird could still see him despite the white mist around him.

Following that, Chu Feng immediately noticed something—the owl had a communicator around his neck and was about to report the situation.

Something like this would be absolutely ridiculous before the great upheavals. An owl using a communicator?! But it was no longer anything special in this era.

The very moment that owl lowered its head and its eyes left him, Chu Feng exploded with full force and charged towards the old locust tree.

He moved at supersonic speeds and wasn’t particularly afraid of the enemy hearing him. He tore through the mountain woods and closed the two-kilometer gap in merely two seconds!

As the owl noticed the sudden development, its hair stood on end and immediately spread its wings to fly up.

But it was too late. Chu Feng had jumped up in pursuit, reaching hundreds of meters into the air and piercing through the avian in just one punch.

Blood and feathers rained down amidst the bird king’s miserable cries as it was captured alive by Chu Feng.

Thump!

As he landed, Chu Feng felt some of his wounds seeping blood and his heart in pain. However, the damage was within bearable range and the wound on his heart has not ruptured.

This owl was barely two meters long and could be considered tiny among bird kings.

It was, of course, a given that the strength of king level entities could not be measured by size. This owl had, in fact, broken through two shackles and couldn’t be considered particularly weak.

"Speak!" Chu Feng stared at him and allowed him to come clean on its own.

The bird king shivered all over.

Chu Feng let his eyes display his power as it glowed with explosive energy fluctuations. The bird king felt a moment of extreme terror; he knew how horrifying Demon King Chu was and that he had killed countless divergent race members.

"What?! You contacted the Peacock King’s troops?!"

Chu Feng was furious after he had finished the interrogation. Although he had already guessed that should be the cause, he couldn’t help but want to punch this bird into meat paste.

"After receiving the Peacock King’s orders, all the bird kings of the south had to obey. I was also forced to act."

"Rubbish! You can absolutely skimp on it! But it appears you’re putting in quite the effort on reporting my location to obtain a reward from the Peacock King!" Chu Feng roared.

"Please have mercy!" The owl wasn’t that courageous and immediately gave in after some intimidation.

"You really were doing it for the reward!?" Chu Feng kicked him away and then proceeded to step on his back, shouting, "You’ll make up for this transgression with labor. Carry me and fly 1500 kilometers west."

"I’m too injured to fly," the bird king replied in a whisper.

"I’ll slaughter you immediately if you can’t fly. You still dare to be uncooperative at this point?!" Chu Feng threatened coldly.

Finally, the bird king could only yield. He carried Chu Feng and shot through the night sky.

From his confessions, Chu Feng understood that although the Peacock King was headed south, he was still quite a distance away from Jiangxi.

He calculated that the Peacock King should take one more day to arrive.

All the bird king around the Jiangxi area, however, had been ordered to search and destroy Chu Feng. It could be said that all the avians had been mobilized.

"Are they all looking to die?!" Chu Feng coldly muttered.

"Word in the outside world is that you had sustained grievous injuries and that you possessed a peerless breathing technique. Once you add the Peacock King’s generous bounty, many kings are sure to be tempted."

This was horrible news!

Chu Feng frowned. He had run away immediately knowing that everyone would be able to guess he was wounded after the fight with Hei Teng.

It could be considered lucky that he encountered this owl with only two severed shackles. It would be truly dangerous if he was to face someone like the Golden Lion King.

He couldn’t use his full power at this time lest his heart wound open up once again. Now, he began to realize Hei Teng’s misery while fighting with him.

"Jiangxi could be considered an area with the most number of king level entities," the bird king explained.

"Jiangxi!" Chu Feng began to think of the famed mountains and experts residing in the area and was shocked.

There were Mount Longhu and Mount Lu in the area. The former was the ancestral court of Taoism, while the latter was one of the ten famed mountains.

Mount Lu was also considered one of the three mountains and five peaks of Taoism, however, there were also some who beg to differ, claiming that the three mountains referred to Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou.

It wasn’t too difficult to imagine how many experts would be gathered around these mountains.

But after thinking in detail, Chu Feng’s expression changed once again. There were simply too many famed mountains and great rivers within the Jiangxi province. It was definitely a frightening area.

Apart from Mount Longhu and Mount Lu, there was also Mount Sanqing. That place was truly extraordinary—it was one of the most famous heavenly grottos of Taoism.

"Also Mount Jinggang, Mount Wugong, Mount Mingyue, Mount Ling, Mei Mountain Range, Mount Panggu and Cuiwei Peak..." Chu Feng didn’t want to think anymore.

He also asked the bird king about the local experts.

"The scarlet-robed treemother of Mount Wuyi in Fujian is considered a peerless expert. Her travels had recently taken her to Jiangxi," the bird king informed him.

Chu Feng was astonished. The most famous type of tea tree had become a peerless expert?! And was even traveling? Truly makes one speechless!

Following that, the owl had also told him about quite a few other king level entities with five severed shackles, causing Chu Feng to go silent. It appeared areas with famed mountains produced much more experts.

Suddenly, Chu Feng’s hair stood on end. He abruptly jumped up as a beam of light flew towards him and pierced through the owl.

Chu Feng’s muscles tensed up as his spiritual energy clashed with that of a powerful entity in the distance. The latter had used a high energy beam weapon to attempt a kill.

Chu Feng had sensed the attack at the last moment and evaded successfully. The unfortunate owl, however, was killed on the spot.

Chu Feng moved himself with spiritual energy to swiftly evade several incoming beam trajectories.

Several beams were shot out in succession, illuminating the night sky.

"Dammit!"

Chu Feng’s hair stood on end as he evaded in advance. His evasive instincts were pushed to the max at this moment.

It was obvious that this kind of weapon would have several limitations and it eventually stopped, as expected, after shooting a few more beams. Chu Feng landed and ran forward frantically to find a large laser weapon which only king level entities might be able to carry.

Chu Feng realized that these corporations couldn’t wait any longer and had decided to act against him.

He understood that these people wanted to leave him alive as the weapon was aimed for the lower part of his body. If he was, indeed struck, it would ensure he survived and yet be unable to escape.

It appeared not only the owl but also other corporate agents had also reached the vicinity.

"Demon King Chu, where do you think you’re going?!" A loud voice was transmitted from afar.

Surprisingly, it was not a human expert but a giant black ape. The beast, over eighty meters tall and standing like a small mountain, jumped towards him with a boom!

Boom!

The whole mountain had almost collapsed. With long black fur, frosty eyes which glowed like lightning, the ape slapped down at Chu Feng with incredible speed.

Slap!

Chu Feng swiftly evaded, leaving the mountaintop crumbling under the incoming slap.

He knew that this black ape of was known as a demonic god within the Jiangxi area. It was as violent as it was powerful and had already broken five shackles.

The air trembled as a golden beam of light shot towards Chu Feng in an unstoppable manner. The rocks shattered and forests disintegrated along its path.

This was a hundred-meter golden condor. It opened its sharp claws and slashed down.

Thump!

Moments after Chu Feng’s timely evasion, a huge claw tore through the mountain he had been standing on, yet another terrifying sight to behold.

He knew the expert who had just arrived. The Golden Condor King was one of the most powerful experts in the region and was also one with five severed shackles.

The Golden Condor transformed into human form with a swoosh. His long golden hair draped behind his back as he landed on a mountain peak. Brandishing the longsword in his hand, he spoke, "Demon King Chu, don’t think of escaping today!"

"Miao!"

A cat’s cry shook the spirit of all those present.

Boom!

A thirty-meter long lynx had made its appearance. It was brightly colored like a divine tiger and moved hundreds of meters with every stride, arriving before them in a whirlwind.

Following that, a snow-white fox revealed itself. It was several meters long and possessed scheming eyes which sparkled with light.

The lynx and fox pair were both experts with four severed shackles.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh...

Continuous sounds of movement could be heard as tens of beast kings appeared with raging killing intent and encircled him.

Chu Feng frowned after realizing that such a large group of people had found him during the few hours that he had spent recuperating.

He didn’t act rashly because he felt the danger he was now in. There were also a number of human experts hiding in the dark.

Chu Feng fixed his gaze in a certain direction, from which two people appeared amidst an explosion which blasted open part of the woods. They were wearing armor and their faces were covered to hide their identities.

One of them was carrying a golden hammer which he swung towards Chu Feng. With crackling sounds, a gigantic lightning bolt flew out towards him at full power.

Chu Feng dodged to one side and revealed a surprised expression as he observed the mighty magical weapon.

Could they be part of Deity Biomedical’s Lei Zhenzi?

Bodhi Biogenetics had their Buddha’s Disciples and the Deity Biomedical had the Lei Zhenzi. The latter was more mysterious and had never made any public appearance before.

Chu Feng didn’t think Deity Biomedicals would ostentatiously dispatch their Lei Zhenzi in this manner.

Many corporations were aware of his physical wounds. They would only act in the dark to obtain his breathing technique and weren’t likely to attack openly in this manner.

Chu Feng suspected whether or not they were the real Lei Zhenzi.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh...

Seven more human shadows approached from another direction. Their auras were even stronger.

"Are you lot forcing me to start a massacre?!" Chu Feng coldly asked.

He would certainly be able to force his way out if he wasn’t wounded. Chu Feng frowned solemnly because he knew his wounds were too severe.

"Don’t try to act tough!" Someone laughed.

Clang!

Chu Feng’s hand flashed with bright light as the diamond chakram appeared, emanating brilliant splendor.

"Who wants to die first?" He glanced at them derisively.
